Daniel 10:1
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a message was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, and it concerned a great conflict. And the understanding of the message was given to him in a vision.
Daniel was a man of extraordinary intellect. Yet in Daniel 10:1, the BSB says, “the understanding of the message was given to him in a vision.” Daniel did not simply figure it out on his own. True understanding was given. In our academic pursuits, we often rely only on our own brainpower. We read textbooks, take notes, and study for exams. Those habits matter. But there is a higher level of learning available to us when the Holy Spirit illuminates our minds. When you hit a roadblock in your studies, do not only push harder in your own strength. Pause and ask heaven for help. God loves to grant understanding to students who rely on Him. He can help you comprehend complex theories. He can help you solve difficult equations. Your academic success can bring Him great glory.

Identify one subject or concept you are currently struggling to understand. Before you open that textbook today, spend five minutes in quiet prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to be your tutor. Ask Him to give you the gift of understanding.

Lord, I thank You for my mind. I acknowledge that every good and perfect gift comes from You. Please grant me deep understanding in my studies. Remove confusion and replace it with clarity. Help me to excel so that I may bring glory to Your name.
