The grace to crawl
29 He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.
Isaiah 40:29Bible Reading
Daniel 10:10
10 Suddenly, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.
There are moments in the pursuit of student success and academic excellence when running is impossible. You may experience a major failure, extreme burnout, or a family crisis that leaves you with no strength. Like Daniel in chapter 10, you may find yourself face down, trembling, and unable to move forward. In these hard moments, God does not demand that you instantly jump up and sprint. Instead, He sends a touch of grace. The hand touched Daniel and set him trembling on his hands and knees. Daniel was weak, but he was no longer face down. He was in a posture of movement. In your academic life, when you are crushed, God can touch you. He may send an encouraging word, a helpful professor, or a sudden measure of clarity. When that touch comes, do not expect to feel perfect immediately. You may still be trembling with anxiety. You may only have strength to crawl. That is still grace. Writing one messy paragraph is better than staying face down in defeat. Embrace the grace to crawl. If you take small, trembling steps forward today, God can give you strength to stand tall tomorrow.
Action Point
Look at the one assignment you have been avoiding because it paralyzes you. Stop demanding perfection from yourself. Accept the grace to crawl. Set a timer for ten minutes and do the simplest possible step on that assignment. Let small action break the paralysis.
Prayer Point
Lord, thank You that You never leave me in the dirt. When academic failures and anxieties crush me, please reach down and touch my mind. Even if I am trembling, give me strength to get on my hands and knees and start moving forward again. I trust Your grace to sustain me.
Reflection Point
Am I too proud to crawl academically? Do I refuse to start an assignment unless I feel confident, or am I willing to make messy, trembling progress while trusting God to guide me?
