When assignments come like a flood
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD where the sun sets, and His glory where it rises. For He will come like a raging flood, driven by the breath of the LORD.

10 But his sons will stir up strife and assemble a great army, which will advance forcefully, sweeping through like a flood, and will again carry the battle as far as his fortress. 11 In a rage, the king of the South will march out to fight the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be delivered into the hand of his enemy. 12 When the army is carried off, the king of the South will be proud in heart and will cast down tens of thousands, but he will not triumph. 13 For the king of the North will raise another army, larger than the first, and after some years he will advance with a great army and many supplies. 14 In those times many will rise up against the king of the South. Violent ones among your own people will exalt themselves in fulfillment of the vision, but they will fail.
God knows exactly how much pressure you are under. There are weeks in the semester when assignments feel like a flood. The readings pile up. The essays are due. The exams are approaching. In Daniel 11, armies advance forcefully, sweeping through like a flood. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and paralyzed by the volume of work. But you do not have to drown in academic stress. The Lord is your fortress and solid rock. Isaiah 59:19 also reminds us that the LORD can come like a raging flood, driven by His breath. When panic rises, stop and take a deep breath. Pride says, “I can handle this alone.” Wisdom says, “Lord, help me.” God can give you peace and the discipline to organize your time. He can help you tackle one assignment at a time until the flood recedes.

Take all your syllabi and write every due date on one master calendar. Seeing everything in one place will reduce the feeling of an unknown flood. Break your largest project into three small, doable steps.
