Bible Reading

Proverbs 8:36

36 But he who fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.”

We all love a good warning label: "Danger: High voltage." "Do not drink." These signs can save lives. Proverbs 8:36 is the ultimate warning label pasted onto your college syllabus. Wisdom says, "But he who fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death." This is intense language. God is showing us that laziness, apathy, and cheating are not small mistakes. They are destructive choices against your own potential. When you choose to binge-watch a television show instead of studying for your midterm, you harm your future growth. You starve your mind of the knowledge it needs to grow. When students plagiarize or cheat on exams, they think they are finding a clever shortcut. But God says they are falling in love with death. Their integrity dies. Their understanding dies. Do not mock the process of learning. God gave you a beautiful brain. It is a tragedy to waste it on foolishness. Wake up today. Recognize the serious cost of bad habits. Flee from laziness as if your future depends on it, because it does. Choose the hard, glorious path of daily discipline, and protect your academic soul.

Action Point

Identify one specific way you have been practicing academic selfsabotage this week, such as sleeping through your 8:00 a.m. class. Set three loud alarms across your bedroom tonight to help yourself get out of bed tomorrow morning.

Prayer Point

Lord, please forgive me for wasting the mind You gave me. I do not want to harm myself through laziness. Wake me up to the serious reality of my choices. Give me the strength to choose discipline and life today.

Reflection Point

Why do we trick ourselves into thinking procrastination is harmless? How will you remind yourself today that your daily study choices have long-term consequences?
