The tenfold factor

17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom. And Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams. 18 Now at the end of the time specified by the king, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 And the king spoke with them, and among all the young men he found no one equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they entered the king’s service. 20 In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom. 21 And Daniel remained there until the first year of King Cyrus.
We often settle for passing. We aim for the C just to get the degree. We do the minimum to get by. But Daniel 1 ends with a stunning report card. Daniel and his friends were ten times better than everyone else. This was not an accident. It was the result of a divine partnership. They brought discipline: the diet and the study. God gave knowledge, skill, and wisdom. This is the tenfold factor. It is available to every believing student. When you partner with God, you step beyond natural ability and receive grace for supernatural help. You have the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, living inside you. He is the ultimate Teacher. He can bring clarity. He can highlight the sentence in a book that unlocks a paper. He can give you a concept for a project that no one else has considered. But He needs a vessel. He needs a student who is diligent, pure, and humble. If you provide the vessel, God will provide the oil. Do not settle for being average. The world has enough average. The world needs excellence. The world needs you to be ten times better so people can see the greatness of your God.

Pick your hardest subject. The one you struggle with. Dedicate it to God. Spend extra time on it this week. Pray over your textbook. Ask God for tenfold understanding. Approach it with confidence that God is your Teacher.

Father, I refuse to be average. I ask for tenfold grace and understanding. Give me wisdom beyond my natural ability. Give me insights that honor You and bless others. I want to stand before kings and glorify You. Make me a sharp arrow in Your quiver. In Jesus' name, Amen.
