17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom. And Daniel had insight into all kinds of visions and dreams.
When we open the book of Daniel, we find a challenge. It is the call to be the best. Not out of pride, but out of purpose. Daniel and his friends were in a hostile environment. They had every reason to give up. They had every reason to blend in. But they chose to stand out. They chose to honor God with their lifestyle, and God honored them with learning. This chapter destroys the myth that Christians should be mediocre. It destroys the idea that faith is anti-intellectual. The most spiritual young men in Babylon were also the wisest. They were the top students. They were the best researchers. Why? Because they had access to the Mind of the Maker. When you open your textbook, you are studying God's work. When you write a paper, you are using God's gift of language. When you solve a problem, you are using God's logic. You have an advantage. You have the Holy Spirit. Do not waste it. Do not be a lazy Christian. Be a Daniel. Study hard. Pray hard. Eat right. Live pure. And watch God make you ten times better. The world is watching. Show them what a God-fearing student looks like. Show them excellence.

Set a Daniel goal for this semester. Maybe it is a specific GPA. Maybe it is finishing a major project early. Maybe it is reading a book in your field that was not assigned. Do something that requires ten-times effort. Trust God with the result.
Prayer Point
Father, I want to be excellent for You. I want to be the best in my class, not so I can brag, but so I can point people to You. Give me the discipline of Daniel. Give me the wisdom of Daniel. Let my life be a testimony of Your greatness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
