14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision concerns those days.”
It is 11:30 p.m. on a Tuesday. You are staring at a textbook. Your eyes are burning, and you still have three chapters to read before your 8:00 a.m. class. In that moment, a voice whispers, "Why are you doing this? Just go to sleep. This class does not matter anyway." That is the voice of immediate gratification. It is the enemy of student success and academic excellence. How do you defeat that voice? You defeat it with vision. The angel came to Daniel to explain what would happen to his people "in the latter days." Daniel was given a view beyond the pressure of the moment. In the same way, you need a clear view of your future. Why are you writing that paper? Because your training may prepare you to defend the innocent, heal the sick, lead with wisdom, teach the next generation, or serve your community with excellence. Your current discipline is not pointless. It is part of preparation. When studying becomes painful, look beyond the present strain. See the graduation stage. See the people you will help. See the doors your diligence may open. Let the power of your future calling reach back into your present study space and give you strength to read one more page.
