23 Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men,

Colossians 3:23

Bible Reading

Proverbs 6:6-11

6 Walk in the manner of the ant, O slacker; observe its ways and become wise. 7 Without a commander, without an overseer or ruler, 8 it prepares its provisions in summer; it gathers its food at harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, O slacker? When will you get up from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and need like a bandit.

Look down. Way down. See that tiny creature? That is your professor for today. The ant does not have a library card. She does not have a laptop. She does not have a syllabus. She does not have a PhD. But she is wiser than many students. Why? Because she understands one thing: the future is coming. She knows the sun will not shine forever. She knows the cold wind will blow. So she moves. She carries a crumb heavier than herself. She climbs over obstacles. She keeps going. She does not wait for the queen ant to yell at her. She just works. God is asking you: Do you need a supervisor to do what is right? Do you only study when the exam is tomorrow? That is the way of the slacker. The slacker loves the bed. The slacker loves the comfort of now. But the ant loves the security of later. Academic excellence is not magic. It is the pile of crumbs you gather every day. It is the chapter you read on Tuesday. It is the notes you rewrite on Thursday. It is the review you do on Saturday. Be the ant. Ignore the mood. Do the work. Your winter of testing can become a season of triumph.

Action Point

Set a timer for 25 minutes. Work on your hardest subject with ant-like intensity. No breaks. No phone. Just gathering.

Prayer Point

Father, thank You for the example of creation. Give me the strength to lead myself. I rebuke the spirit of procrastination. I choose to gather wisdom today so I am ready for tomorrow. In Jesus’ name.

Reflection Point

Am I waiting for motivation to strike, or am I moving like the ant, trusting that action can create motivation?
