The signals of success vs. the signals of shame
9 He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
Proverbs 10:9Bible Reading
Proverbs 6:12-15
12 A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth, 13 winking his eyes, speaking with his feet, and pointing with his fingers. 14 With deceit in his heart he devises evil; he continually sows discord. 15 Therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in an instant he will be shattered beyond recovery.
We communicate all the time. We speak with words, but we also speak with our eyes, hands, and posture. Solomon warns us about the student who has a secret language of deceit. This is the person who winks when the teacher turns around. This is the person who taps a pencil to signal an answer. This is the person who whispers discord in the back of the room. They think they are clever. They think they are beating the system. But God calls this person “worthless.” That is a hard word. It means they are no help to the community. They are like a broken tool. True student success is transparent. You do not need secret signals when you have done the work. You do not need to wink at deceit when you are walking in the light. Excellence has nothing to hide. When you walk into an exam room, walk in with the confidence of the ant, not the sneakiness of the deceiver. The deceiver will be broken suddenly. The honest student will walk securely. Let your body language testify to your preparation.
Action Point
Commit to total transparency this week. No whispering in class. No looking at other papers. No copying homework. Do your own work, even when it is hard.
Prayer Point
Father, I want to be a vessel of honor. Remove deceit from my heart. Let my eyes be straight and my hands clean. Let my success be real, not a trick. In Jesus’ name.
Reflection Point
Does my behavior in class add to the learning environment, or does it subtract from it?
