15 By me kings reign, and rulers enact just laws;
It is easy to feel small and insignificant when you are sitting in a lecture hall with five hundred other students. You are just a number on a roster. You are just trying to survive the midterm. But God’s vision for your education is far grander than yours. In Proverbs 8:15, wisdom declares, "By me kings reign, and rulers enact just laws." You might not wear a literal crown, but God is training you for influence. You are in school to prepare for responsibility. Whether you become a software engineer, a high school teacher, a nurse, or an entrepreneur, you are going to steward a specific domain. You will make decisions, solve complex problems, and influence policies. God is using your current coursework to forge the character of a leader inside you. But here is the secret: you cannot lead others well until you learn to lead yourself. If you cannot govern your alarm clock, how will you govern a corporation? If you cannot enact a rule to put your phone away and study for two hours, how will you enact just policies for a community? Academic discipline is training ground for leadership. Stop acting like a victim of your schedule. Put on the crown of self-discipline. Reign over your textbooks, conquer your assignments, and prepare to lead with the wisdom of God.

Draft a "royal decree" for your study habits. Write down three nonnegotiable rules for your week, such as, "I decree that all reading will be done before Friday night." Sign it, date it, and enforce it with discipline.

Lord, thank You for calling me to be a leader. Forgive me for acting like a helpless victim of my circumstances. Give me the wisdom and discipline to govern my schedule and establish productive rules for my academic life today.
