The handwriting is on the wall

Daniel 5:1-31

7 Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return.

Galatians 6:7

Bible Reading

Daniel 5:1

1 Later, King Belshazzar held a great feast for a thousand of his nobles, and he drank wine with them.

We often use the phrase “the writing is on the wall” to mean that a negative outcome is becoming obvious. In Daniel 5, it was literally true. But for the student of excellence, the writing is on the wall every day. It is in the syllabus. It is in the assignment rubric. It is in the professor’s feedback. God often gives warnings before consequences arrive. He teaches us to number our days. He teaches us to weigh our actions. The foolish student ignores the writing. They party until the night before the exam. They ignore the warning signs of being found deficient on quizzes. Then the semester suddenly ends in disaster. But the wise student reads the writing. They see the warning and adjust. They see the deficit and study harder. They humble themselves and ask for help. Do not wait for the kingdom to fall. Read the writing today. Adjust your course. Add weight to your character and your work. The God who gives the warning also gives grace to pass the test when you turn to Him in time.

Action Point

Look at your current grades in all your classes. That is the writing on the wall. If any are deficient, make a concrete plan today to raise them.

Prayer Point

Lord, open my eyes to see the reality of my situation. Give me the courage to face the truth and the strength to change. Let me not be caught unaware.

Reflection Point

Am I ignoring the signs of trouble, hoping they will just go away?
