The spirit that cannot be ignored

Daniel 6:1-3
1 Now it pleased Darius to appoint 120 satraps to rule throughout the kingdom, 2 and over them three administrators, including Daniel, to whom these satraps were accountable so that the king would not suffer loss. 3 Soon, by his extraordinary spirit, Daniel distinguished himself among the administrators and satraps. So the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.
Imagine walking into a room and changing the atmosphere by the way you serve. That was Daniel. He did not only have a sharp mind. The BSB says he had an “extraordinary spirit.” He stood out. He was more than enough for the assignment in front of him. When the king looked across the kingdom, Daniel was different. As a student, you are called to this same standard. Mediocrity should never be your goal. Why? Because you represent the Creator of the universe. God creates with purpose. Daniel excelled even late in life. He did not use age as an excuse. He did not use exile as an excuse. He did not use a pagan ruler as an excuse. He simply served with excellence. He made himself valuable. The king recognized that Daniel’s leadership would strengthen the kingdom. Are you that kind of student? Does your study group feel the difference when you are present? Does the class benefit when you participate? Becoming dependable starts with your spirit. It starts with a decision to reject “good enough” when God is calling you higher. Daniel chose excellence, and God lifted him up.
Action Point
Identify one assignment or task you have this week. Commit to doing it with an extraordinary spirit. Go beyond laziness and haste. If the teacher asks for 500 words, make every word strong. Format it cleanly. Be faithful in the details.
Prayer Point
Father, breathe Your excellent spirit into me. I reject laziness. I reject average effort. Make me a distinguished student. Let my work bring glory to Your name. Raise me into leadership through faithful service. In Jesus’ name.
