17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise—apply your mind to my knowledge—

Proverbs 22:17

Bible Reading

Proverbs 2:2

2 if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,

Have you ever tried to listen to a radio station full of static? It is annoying. You have to turn the dial carefully. You have to fine-tune it until the voice is clear. Proverbs 2:2 tells us to incline our ear to wisdom and direct our heart to understanding. That means we have to tune out the static. The static is your phone. The static is your worry. The static is the noise of the hallway. To succeed in school, you must master the dial. You must know how to tune in to your teacher. You must know how to tune in to the Holy Spirit. It takes effort. It takes an applied heart. You engage your will and say, "I am going to focus now." When you lock in, everything changes. Confusion turns to clarity. Noise turns to understanding. The student who tunes in wins the prize. Today, check your dial. Are you listening to the static or the lesson? Incline your ear. Clear the channel. Receive wisdom.

Action Point

During your most difficult class or study session today, put your phone in another room or turn it off completely. Commit to 25 minutes of staticfree tuning in.

Prayer Point

Lord, help me to tune out the noise of the world. Help me to tune in to Your wisdom and my studies. Give me a clear signal.

Reflection Point

What is the number one distraction that creates "static" in my study time?
