15 Avoid it; do not travel on it. Turn from it and pass on by.
There is a myth that you can play with fire and not get burned. Solomon destroys this myth. He says, “Avoid it; do not travel on it. Turn from it and pass on by.” In your academic life, you know what your fire is. Maybe it is video games. Maybe it is a relationship that does not respect your study time. Maybe it is the snooze button. Whatever it is, do not negotiate with it. Do not try to manage what keeps burning your future. If it is killing your success, cut it off. Walk away. The best students are not always the ones with the most willpower. They are often the ones who remove the temptation before it can master them. Be wise. Be decisive. If it threatens your destiny, it has to go.

Identify your number-one time vampire. Is it social media? Is it a specific person? Take one decisive step today to avoid it, such as deleting the app, putting the phone in another room, or studying in a different building.

Father, give me wisdom to recognize the traps. Give me strength to turn away. I choose to walk on the high road of holiness and focus. I will not be distracted. Amen.
