The straight shooter
7 Above all, be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe all the law that My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may prosper wherever you go.
Joshua 1:7Bible Reading
Proverbs 4:27
27 Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your feet away from evil.
The shortest distance between where you are and where you want to be is a straight line. But the enemy puts shiny distractions on the right and left. He puts parties on the left. He puts doubts on the right. He wants you to zigzag. Zigzagging is exhausting. It takes twice as long to get half as far. Solomon says, “Do not swerve to the right or to the left.” Put on your blinders. Be a straight shooter. Be the student who is so focused on the prize that distractions lose their power. And if you step in mud—if you make a mistake—turn your feet away from evil. Do not wallow in it. Pull out, clean off, and get back on the line. The straight path is the path of speed, safety, and success.
Action Point
Draw a literal line on a piece of paper. On one end, write “Now.” On the other, write “Graduation.” Write your distractions on the sides. Draw a thick line connecting the two points and bypassing the distractions. Visualize this today.
Prayer Point
Father, I set my course. I lock my coordinates on Your will and my academic goals. I will not be distracted. I will not turn aside. Keep my feet on the highway of holiness. Amen.
