Watch your mouth

24 Put away deception from your mouth; keep your lips from perverse speech.
Your mouth is the rudder of your ship. If you want to steer your academic life toward success, you must control your tongue. Solomon says, “Put away deception from your mouth; keep your lips from perverse speech.” Stop speaking failure. Stop saying, “I cannot.” Stop saying, “This teacher is the worst.” Every time you speak that way, you dig a hole. You train your own heart to give up. Instead, align your speech with God’s Word and your goals. Speak straight. Say, “This is hard, but I will learn it.” Say, “I am a diligent student.” Say, “I have a future.” When you straighten your speech, you straighten your path. The crooked road of excuses leads nowhere. The straight road of honest, faith-filled speech leads to the prize.
Action Point
Catch yourself today. If you start to complain, stop mid-sentence. Rephrase it into a positive action statement. Instead of “I have to study,” say, “I get to prepare for my future.”
Prayer Point
Father, cleanse my lips. Let my words be acceptable in Your sight. I rebuke the spirit of complaining. I will speak truth, hope, and excellence over my studies today. Amen.
