The gates of opportunity
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter and give thanks to the LORD.

Proverbs 8:3
3 Beside the gates to the city, at the entrances she cries out:
The gates of an ancient city were the most important places in town. They were where the elders met, business was transacted, and justice was served. In Proverbs 8:3, wisdom is standing right at those gates. She is crying aloud at the entrance. God is showing us that true wisdom is practical. It is meant for the real, bustling world. Your university, your classroom, and your library are your current city gates. They are the threshold to your future career and calling. God does not want you to stumble blindly through these doors. He is standing there, offering you the keys to success. Academic excellence requires you to step through these gates with confidence. You cannot stay outside, paralyzed by fear, comparison, or procrastination. You must enter. You must engage with the material. You must participate in the marketplace of ideas. When you walk through the doors of your school today, remember that wisdom is already waiting for you. She is ready to equip you to lead.
