The graveyard of potential
13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.

Proverbs 7:24-27
24 Now, my sons, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth. 25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths. 26 For she has brought many down to death; her slain are many in number. 27 Her house is the road to Sheol, descending to the chambers of death.
Solomon ends his lecture with a visit to the cemetery. He points to the gravestones. “Here lies a strong man,” he says. “Here lies a genius. Here lies a king.” They all fell because they followed the path of distraction and sin. This is a sobering reality check. You are not immune because you are smart. You are not immune because you are a Christian. You are safe only if you listen and obey. Talent is not a vaccine against failure. Discipline is the vaccine. Integrity is the shield. Look at the wounded. Learn from them. Decide today that your name will not be on that list. You will be among those who walk past the house of folly and keep going straight to the house of wisdom.
Action Point
Write down three strong men—biblical or modern—who fell because of a lack of character. Then write down what you will do differently.
Prayer Point
Lord, keep my feet from slipping. I humble myself before You. You are my strength. Without You, I am nothing. Keep me on the path of life. In Jesus’ name.
Reflection Point
Am I flirting with the things that destroyed those who came before me?
