The light in the ruins
16 Make Your face shine on Your servant; save me by Your loving devotion.
Psalm 31:16Bible Reading
Daniel 9:17
17 So now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of Your servant. For Your sake, O Lord, cause Your face to shine upon Your desolate sanctuary.
Friend, it is painful to look at a ruined dream. Perhaps you started this semester with high hopes. You wanted straight As. You wanted to make your family proud. But things went wrong. You fell behind. The assignments piled up. Now your transcript feels like a desolate place. Daniel knew this feeling. He was looking at the ruins of Jerusalem. The beautiful temple was desolate. But Daniel did not sit in the ashes forever. He lifted his head and prayed, "For Your sake, O Lord, cause Your face to shine upon Your desolate sanctuary." He asked God to turn on the light. When God shines His face, darkness has to flee. God loves to rebuild ruined things. Do not let desolate grades define your future. Bring the ruins to God. Say, "Lord, my math grade feels desolate. My essay writing feels broken. Shine Your face on my mind. Turn the light on in my understanding." God can give clarity, discipline, and fresh energy to study again. And when you succeed, do not take the credit. Lift your hands and say, "Lord, You helped me." Let your academic comeback display His grace.
