16 O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.
Friend, the world is watching you. If you call yourself a believer, your professors are watching you. Your classmates are watching you. They want to know whether your faith makes a difference in real life. Daniel was heartbroken because the city of God was in ruins. The surrounding nations could see the rubble. Jerusalem and God's people had become "a reproach to all around us." Daniel cried out for the Lord's anger and wrath to turn away from His city. Think about your own academic life. Are your grades a pile of rubble? Are you known as the student who sleeps through lectures, begs for extensions, and copies homework? If so, it is time to rebuild. You are called to be a city on a hill, shining with the light of diligence, wisdom, and integrity. When you study faithfully, write carefully, and handle your work honestly, your life points others toward the God of wisdom. Do not let careless habits speak louder than your faith. Pray like Daniel. Ask God to forgive what needs to be forgiven. Ask Him to help you restore your academic standing so your work becomes a testimony to His grace.
