40 At the time of the end, the king of the South will engage him in battle, but the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots, horsemen, and many ships, invading many countries and sweeping through them like a flood. 41 He will also invade the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall. But these will be delivered from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the leaders of the Ammonites. 42 He will extend his power over many countries, and not even the land of Egypt will escape. 43 He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and over all the riches of Egypt, and the Libyans and Cushites will also submit to him. 44 But news from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will go out with great fury to destroy many and devote them to destruction. 45 He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain, but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
God loves you, and He has given you grace to finish what you have started. The beginning of a semester often comes with fresh notebooks and strong motivation. But the “time of the end”—finals week, a thesis deadline, or the last push before graduation—can feel different. It can feel like battle. In Daniel 11:40, the king of the North storms out with chariots, horsemen, and many ships, sweeping through many countries like a flood. For a student, the final weeks of school can feel like that flood. Assignments pile up. Pressure rises. Anxiety tries to invade your peace. It is tempting to lose heart or lower your standards when you are exhausted. But you are a child of the Most High God. You do not have to drown in finals-week pressure. With God’s help, you can respond with fierce, focused determination. You can walk into your exams with the confidence of a prepared and prayerful scholar. Do not let alarming news or campus drama distract you. Protect the Beautiful Land of your mind through prayer, wise planning, and disciplined study. And remember this: unlike the arrogant king who meets his end with no one to help him, you are not alone. The Holy Spirit is your Helper, Comforter, and Guide. Lean on Him, and finish with joy.
