In geometry, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. In life, the shortest distance to success is integrity. Proverbs 2:15 warns us about those whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious. These are the people who think they have found a shortcut. They think lying is a shortcut out of trouble. They think cheating is a shortcut to a grade. They think manipulation is a shortcut to leadership. They are wrong. A crooked path is always longer. It involves covering your tracks, remembering your lies, and looking over your shoulder. It is exhausting. Eventually, it leads to a dead end. The wise student walks the straight path. It may look steep. It may look hard. But it is solid. You do not have to hide. You do not have to spin. You do the work, tell the truth, and trust God. That is the path of peace.
