The classroom is full. The professor is speaking. But are you listening? Hearing is more than sound waves reaching your eardrums. It is the engagement of the mind. It is the opening of the heart. Solomon pleads with us: “Listen, my sons.” He knows the danger of ignorance. He knows the cost of missing out. In your academic journey, you are surrounded by instruction. It is in the syllabus. It is in the lecture. It is in the feedback on your paper. Often, we fail because we do not listen. We assume we know. We skim the instructions. We check our phones during the explanation. This is the path to mediocrity. Excellence demands attention. The best students are the best listeners. They value the words being spoken. They treat information like gold. They capture it. They process it. They understand it. God wants you to excel. He has placed teachers in your life. He has given you resources. But you must do your part. You must tune in. Decide that for the next hour, nothing matters more than this lesson.
