Lean in

Proverbs 4:20

18 Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”

Luke 8:18

Bible Reading

Proverbs 4:20

20 My son, pay attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.

When someone whispers a secret, what do you do? You lean in. You stop talking. You focus on their words. Why? Because you value the message. Solomon says, “Incline your ear to my sayings.” Treat your education like treasure. The professor may be giving you tools for your future career. Do not sit back with your arms crossed. Lean in. Engage. Attention is an act of value. When you pay attention, you pay a price, but you buy understanding. In a world of endless distraction, the student who can attend to one thing for one hour is powerful. Be that student. Give the gift of your attention to your studies, and they will give you the gift of growth.

Action Point

In your next conversation or class, practice total focus. Make eye contact. Turn your body toward the speaker. Put the phone away. See how much more you retain.

Prayer Point

Father, I tune my heart to Your frequency. I tune my mind to my studies. Silence the static. I am listening. Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears. Amen.

Reflection Point

Who is trying to teach me something right now that I am ignoring?
