The loudest voice in the room
11 and to aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands, as we instructed you.
1 Thessalonians 4:11Bible Reading
Proverbs 7:10-12
10 Then a woman came out to meet him, with the attire of a harlot and cunning of heart. 11 She is loud and defiant; her feet do not remain at home. 12 Now in the street, now in the squares, she lurks at every corner.
Have you noticed that the most important things are often the quietest? Your textbook does not scream at you. Your future degree does not send notifications. But distractions are loud. They buzz, ring, and flash. Solomon saw the strange woman as loud and defiant. She demanded attention. In your academic journey, if you only listen to the loud voices, you will fail. You must tune your ear to the frequency of wisdom. You must learn to ignore the noisy call of the immediate so you can hear the whisper of the ultimate.
Action Point
Practice one hour of deep silence today. No phone. No music with lyrics. Just you and the work. Notice how much you get done.
Prayer Point
Lord, teach me to study quietly and tend to my own business. Shut out the clamor of the world so I can hear Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name.
Reflection Point
Who is controlling my attention: the loud notification or the quiet goal?
