The enemy of your success rarely comes looking like a monster. It comes looking like a friend. It comes looking like a break. It comes looking like a shortcut. Solomon speaks of the stranger with seductive words. In your academic life, you will face opportunities to cut corners. You will be tempted to copy an assignment. You will be tempted to skip a chapter. It feels good in the moment. It feels smooth. But it is a trap. Wisdom is the wall that keeps you safe. When you are committed to doing things the right way—the hard way—you are protected from the destruction that comes to those who seek the easy path.

Lord, give me eyes to see the trap. Help me love the hard work and hate the easy lie. Protect my future from my desire for comfort. In Jesus’ name.
