The grace of speed
31 But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31Bible Reading
Daniel 7:6
6 Next, as I watched, suddenly another beast appeared. It was like a leopard, and on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.
The leopard is impressive. It is a masterpiece of design. It is built for speed. But Daniel saw something even more impressive: a leopard with wings. This is a picture of unusual speed. There are times in your academic life when natural ability is not enough. You are behind. The deadline is close. The material is hard. You need help beyond yourself. You need grace. God can quicken your mind. He can guide you to the right resources. He can help you understand what once confused you. But notice this: the leopard still had to run. The wings assisted the leopard; they did not replace the leopard. You must run. You must study. And as you run, ask God to lift you. When natural effort meets God-given help, excellence becomes possible.
Action Point
Identify a task that has been dragging on. Set a 45-minute sprint timer. Pray, "Lord, give me wings," and then attack the task with focus. See how much you can complete in one concentrated burst.
Prayer Point
Father, I thank You for the gift of a sound mind. I ask for the wings of the eagle and the speed of the leopard. Quicken my understanding. Let me not lag behind in diligence. Give me grace to redeem the time.
Reflection Point
Am I trying to run in my own strength, or am I learning to fly with God's help?
