Bible Reading

Daniel 8:17-18

17 As he came near to where I stood, I was terrified and fell facedown. “Son of man,” he said to me, “understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.” 18 While he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep, with my face to the ground. Then he touched me, helped me to my feet,

Daniel is one of the great prophets in the Bible. Yet when he saw the weight of the vision, he was terrified. He fell facedown. Then he fell into a deep sleep, with his face to the ground. If Daniel could collapse under the weight of revelation, you should not be surprised when you feel overwhelmed by your assignments. Sometimes the syllabus feels too heavy. Sometimes finals week feels frightening. You may look at your GPA and want to put your face in your pillow and cry. That is a human response. But notice what happens next. The angel does not leave Daniel on the ground. He touches him and helps him to his feet. God can meet you in the same tender way. He does not despise you for feeling overwhelmed. He comforts and strengthens you. When you are burned out, pause in prayer. Let the Holy Spirit steady your exhausted mind. He can give you fresh strength. He can help you stand again and finish the work before you.

Action Point

If you are sitting in a slumped, tired posture right now, stand up. Take a deep breath. Stretch your arms. Pray a ten-second prayer asking God for fresh strength for the next hour of studying.

Prayer Point

Father, I admit that I am often intimidated by my classes. The workload can make me want to quit. Please touch my mind today. Lift me out of academic exhaustion. Stand me firmly on my feet, and give me courage to face my homework with joy.

Reflection Point

Do I condemn myself when I feel tired or overwhelmed? How can I accept my human limits while trusting God for resilience?
