The breath of intelligence
5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5Bible Reading
Proverbs 2:6
6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Where did your brain come from? Where did the laws of logic come from? They came from the mouth of God. Proverbs 2:6 reminds us that "the LORD gives wisdom" and that knowledge and understanding come from His mouth. This changes how we study. We are not just downloading data from a book. We are receiving gifts from a Person. When you understand a complex equation, that understanding is a spark from God's fire. When you write a beautiful poem, that inspiration is a breath from God's mouth. This takes the pressure off. You do not have to generate brilliance on your own. You position yourself to receive wisdom. You do the digging in verse 4, and He does the giving in verse 6. It is a partnership: you and God working together for your academic success.
Action Point
Before your next exam or project, hold your hands out open, palms up. Acknowledge that you are waiting to receive wisdom from God. It is a physical act of spiritual dependence.
Prayer Point
Lord, I open my hands and my mind to You. Fill me with the wisdom that comes from Your mouth. I receive it now.
Reflection Point
Am I trying to be brilliant without God? How is that working for me?
