Don't forget where you came from
1 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of adversity come and the years approach of which you will say, “I find no pleasure in them,”
Ecclesiastes 12:1Bible Reading
Proverbs 2:17
17 who abandons the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.
It is a common story. A student leaves home for university. They are free. No parents. No pastor. Suddenly, they feel the urge to shed their old skin. They stop going to church. They stop praying. They start doing things they never thought they would do. Proverbs 2:17 calls this forgetting the covenant of God. It is a kind of spiritual amnesia. It is the belief that you can build a successful future by destroying your past. But that is a lie. A tree that cuts its own roots does not fly; it dies. Your covenant with God, the values you were taught, and the faithful guidance of your youth are not chains holding you back. They are anchors holding you steady. Real success —the kind that lasts—is built on covenant. Do not be the student who graduates with a degree but loses their soul. Keep the covenant. Honor your roots. Take your faith with you into the lecture hall.
