The great escape
7 We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away.

Proverbs 6:1

Proverbs 6 is an escape map. It assumes that at some point, we may get stuck. We may get stuck in a bad commitment (surety). We may get stuck in a cycle of laziness (slacker). We may get stuck in toxic behavior (worthless person). We may get stuck in a sin trap (adultery). The message of the chapter is clear: get out. Do not stay there. Do not say, “Well, this is just who I am.” No. “Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter.” Use your energy to break free. If you are behind in school, start running now. If you are caught in a lie, confess now. If you are in a bad relationship, break it now. The longer you stay in the trap, the tighter it gets. God has given you the power of choice. He has given you the strength of the Holy Spirit. He has given you the lamp of His Word. You have what you need to begin breaking the chains. Stop sleeping. Stop making excuses. Stand up. Shake off the dust. Run toward the destiny of excellence God has prepared for you. You were not made for the trap. You were made for triumph.

Prayer Point
Father, I am Your child. I am not a captive. I break every agreement I have made with laziness, lies, and distraction. I run to You. I run to my calling. Give me the speed of the gazelle to reclaim my academic success. In Jesus’ name.
Reflection Point
Am I waiting for someone else to rescue me, or am I ready to free myself with God’s help?
